AYOTTE EARNS ACAC ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Edmonton, AB (March 10, 2022)

North Rookie of The Year:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Aneilia Ayotte of The King's University Eagles has been selected as the 2021-22 ACAC Women's Basketball North Rookie of the Year.

Aneilia has made an awesome impact in her first year competing in ACAC Basketball. Consistently, she scored in double digits with a 45% field goal percentage, putting her in the top 10 in the ACAC for shooting accuracy. She landed over 80 rebounds this year with her height, speed and athletic ability allowing her to dominate defenders in the open court. This true freshman wing was key to the young TKU Eagle's squad advancing to playoffs this season finishing 4th. In addition to Neil's skills, she is also fearless and has a super positive attitude, which landed her the respect from her Eagle teammates and coaches.

"I knew that Neil was going to be special from the first time I watched her play, but then I got to know her and found her to be a very positive, fun, and happy person, someone who always greets you with a big hello and smile. She's able to flip the switch quickly when she hits the hardwood, being serious and super competitive, maybe even being a little too hard on herself at times. She is loved by her teammates and coaches and has definitely made an impact on TKU Eagle's Basketball. We can't wait to see what Neil brings in her next season with the Eagles." said Brian Anstice, Head Coach, TKU Eagles Women's Basketball.

Aneilia is currently taking an environmental studies program and Majoring in Biology. In the future she hopes to pursue her dreams of being a wildlife or marine Biologist.

When Aneilia attended Bellerose CHS in St. Albert she was an honour student and was recognized in her senior year with the Bulldogs as the school's Female Athlete of the year.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2022 ACAC Women's Basketball Championship hosted by Lakeland College Rustlers in Lloydminster, Alberta.
